Purpose, fun part and challenges of this role

The IT Projects & Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of our day-to-day IT operations and supporting the delivery of key systems and digital projects.

The fun part of this role is working at the intersection of project delivery, support, and coordination - helping staff across continents do their work more effectively, while supporting practical, user-friendly improvements to systems and processes.

You will be challenged by the need to keep things running while helping us improve, simplify and document a digital ecosystem that includes Google Workspace, Salesforce, and multiple vendors. You’ll also support the coordination of external consultants, making sure their work lands well and supports lasting improvements.

In this role, your greatest success will be that our IT projects have landed well, staff feel supported, and our internal capacity has grown to manage operations with increased autonomy.

The Team

This role works closely with our IT Officer and part-time Salesforce Specialist, and interacts regularly with external vendors and consultants. The team is managed by the Executive Director.

We collaborate openly across time zones and functions and value clear communication, practical solutions, and a learning mindset. Our office culture is flexible and mission-driven, with room for initiative and a shared commitment to impact.

Result areas and core activities

Your job is to keep IT operations running smoothly while coordinating delivery of digital projects.

To do this you will:

  • Manage ongoing IT projects (e.g. CRM, collaboration tools), ensuring delivery on time and budget;
  • Supervise and support the IT Officer and part-time Salesforce Specialist;
  • Coordinate with external IT support providers (including NextNovate) to resolve issues and track SLAs;
  • Coordinate and manage project consultants, ensuring alignment with project timelines, deliverables, and internal priorities;
  • Oversee user onboarding, incident escalation, and help improve documentation and handover;
  • Maintain oversight of licenses, vendors, and digital tools across departments;
  • Work closely with a digital transformation consultant to support planning, handover, and simplification of systems and processes.

Knowledge and experience

The ideal candidate will be committed to the mission and vision of Terre des Hommes Netherlands and has a proven track record in IT project delivery and operational support.

More specifically:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, project coordination, or systems implementation roles;
  • Relevant academic qualifications in IT, Information Systems, or a related field;
  • Experience managing external IT providers and working with tools such as Google Workspace and Salesforce;
  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a multicultural, distributed team environment;
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset and strong communication skills;
  • Collaborative and organised, with attention to detail and a service-oriented attitude;
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is an asset but not required);
  • Must have the existing right to live and work in the Netherlands, TdH NL is unable to support visas or relocation.

What we have to offer, apart from the above!

Terre des Hommes is a growing organisation on the move. This means a lot of room for your own initiative and ideas. As we manage and execute our own programmes and projects, the difference we make and therefore you make is tangible on a daily basis.

  • This is a 1-year fixed-term contract. The role is designed to support the organisation through a period of digital transition and project implementation, and is not expected to be extended.
  • The salary scale for this job is scale 11 and depending on experience and seniority the salary ranges between €4293 and €5608 gross per month based on a full time (36 hrs) contract
  • We offer a 36 hour contract which in our organisation equals a full time workweek. You may spread the hours over the week matching your preference, in agreement with your manager;
  • We work hybrid, so 50% office and 50% from home. Very flexible and with a positive effect on your work life balance;
  • An office in the thriving heart of The Hague, city of international human rights and political capital.
  • 25 days of paid leave per year on a full time employment basis, if part time, days pro rata;
  • We are a firm supporter of the environment and offer a commuting allowance for the kilometres you’d make by bike or get you a Dutch Railways NS Card or your work travel;
  • Our pension scheme is with ASR, and Terre des Hommes Netherlands bears the main part of the pension contribution.
  • Our new hires receive a one-off financial compensation for the purchase or the design of an ergonomic home working environment. We’re happy to tell you more about this when applicable.
