At Aidsfonds - Soa Aids Nederland, we strive for a world where there are no longer any deaths from AIDS and where people enjoy good sexual health. A world in which everyone can love freely and without fear. We do this by working together with the people who are hit hardest by HIV, STIs, discrimination and exclusion. We strengthen their voice and support them with information, knowledge, and funding. For all that is love. We are working on this in the Netherlands and in two regions, including the Middle East and Northern African and Eastern Europe and Central Asia region, and 10 countries worldwide.

Aidsfonds’ international department is responsible for funding community-led action to increase access to health and rights, as well as for conducting global advocacy towards these aims. For this team, we are seeking a

Senior project officer, 32 hours per week

The senior project officer will join the Love Alliance team in Aidsfonds. The Love Alliance (2021-2025) brings together organisations led by communities most affected by HIV and AIDS. The Love Alliance aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of people who use drugs, LGBTIQ+ people and sex workers, including advocating against gender inequality and other forms of inequity, injustices and criminalisation; demanding equity and inclusion in access to health and justice, including comprehensive SRHR and HIV services for all.

Aidsfonds is the administrative lead of the Love Alliance and coordinates the administration of the alliance, including monitoring the progress of the implementation of the full programme proposal, financial management, and reporting to our donor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). In this role we are looking for someone with more than five years of experience ywho will work together with the admin team to coordinate research pieces of work, manage global advocacy grants and supporting Advocacy working groups. You will work closely with project lead and your love Alliance team members

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Co-chairing of the Love Alliance Advocacy Working Group - supporting advocacy coordination, including among global, regional and national advocacy partners. In the future our focus will be on the influencing of the UNAIDS Sustainability Framework, next Global AIDS Strategy and next UN HLM on HIV/AIDS.
  • Coordinating policy research, including our study on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the 10 Love Alliance countries, updating the compendium of internationally agreed language and on the opposition mapping in Africa. Based on the research findings you develop advocacy asks for the Love Alliance in close communication with the advocacy working group.
  • Managing the global advocacy grants and supporting Love Alliance consultative processes on “Community Leadership and Societal Enablers” and on “The Future of the AIDS movement” – active participation and input in steering groups, partners’ engagement, contribution to and dissemination of outputs.

Are you

  • Knowledgeable or do you have affinity with HIV/AIDS.
  • Bringing significant experience with programme management and global advocacy.
  • Proactive and problem-solving, with a positive and can-do attitude.
  • A creative, strategic and analytical mind, with good planning and organizing skills and an interest for global advocacy and world politics.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to manage and prioritize tasks effectively, and to meet organizational and project deadlines.
  • Based in the Netherlands.
