Who are we looking for? We are looking for an experienced and strategic Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to further shape our HR strategy and people agenda. In this role, you will combine strategic advice with practical implementation. You will ensure that our HR approach aligns with the organizational culture and objectives of War Child Netherlands.
You will be a strong sparring partner for the management team, contribute to organizational development, workforce planning, and talent development, and help teams navigate change processes. With your knowledge of Dutch labor law and your focus on well-being, you will: Your responsibilities: 1. Strategic leadership & HR governance

  • Leads and refines the HR strategy in line with our organizational goals.
  • Advises on team development, performance, talent and organizational change.
  • Actively promotes our values, safeguarding and DEIB principles.

2. Policy, procedures & compliance

  • Develops and implements HR policy and monitors compliance with laws and regulations (including employment conditions and absenteeism policy).

3. Organizational design & change management

  • Guides organizational and change processes
  • Advises on HR and employment relations issues during changes.

4. Talent management & recruitment

  • Coordinates the recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Develops a strategy for talent management and succession planning.
  • Implements a new performance management system and process, supports managers in performance management.

5. HR Operations

  • Initiates process and quality improvements.
  • Monitors payroll and HR service processes.
  • Advises on remuneration policy based on benchmarking.
  • Improves the HRIS and translates HR data into actionable insights.

6. Labor relations, well-being & culture

  • Strengthens organizational culture with targeted interventions.
  • Promotes an inclusive and psychologically safe work environment.
  • Coaches managers and guides employees in HR issues related to well-being and performance, among other things.

7. External Relations & Representation

  • Maintains contact with legal advisors, authorities and HR networks.
  • Represents War Child in relevant HR forums.

Your profile

  • Demonstrable experience within HR, including leading the HR function.  
  • Experience with change management
  • Demonstrable experience in managing and delivering complex HR projects.
  • Experience with cultural change, organizational transitions and broader organizational development.
  • Expertise in policy development, HR strategy, and the full HR lifecycle. A background in recruitment and selection is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of Dutch employment law, compliance and employment conditions.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is an advantage.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, with strong communication skills.

What we offer

  • A permanent contract for 32–40 hours per week.

  • A gross monthly salary between €4,305 and €5,353 (based on 40 hours per week, depending on experience).

  • 8% holiday allowance and 29 days of holiday per year (with full-time employment, including 3 fixed days).

  • Net allowances for working from home and commuting, in line with our hybrid work policy.

  • A monthly net telephone allowance of €25.

We work in a hybrid way, combining work from home, the office, and, of course, occasionally traveling to meet clients.
