Fundraising Research 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the overall direction of the Executive Director and the direct supervision of the Fundraising and Visibility Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for donor prospect research, (development agencies, foundations, corporate and high network individuals) to produce a strong pipeline of qualified prospects by: 

Taking a proactive and creative approach to identify new prospects; 

  • Undertaking detailed research into prospects to establish philanthropic capacity;
  • Developing full and accurate prospect/donor research profiles and effectively communicate those to colleagues across the department;
  • Ensuring useful, accurate and clear record keeping of prospects on the fundraising database to allow us to identify connections and build our networks;
  • Keeping up to date with data protection law and confidentiality; 
  • Screening and thorough Due Diligence profiles as required; 
  • Participate in TFV outreach and networking events; 
  • Performing other assignments in support of the TFV Secretariat activities as needed;

Required Qualifications


All Candidates must have an advanced university degree in communications, journalism or a similar qualification. 


  • Professional experience with a UN agency or well-known non-profit organization, responsible for identifying, researching, and analyzing prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation;
  • Experience with segmentation list analysis; 
  • Experience with CRM/fundraising database; 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of prospect research tools and resources 
  • Excellent data mining skills 
  • Understanding of wealth indicators, including income (estimated or public) and assets
  • Understanding of prospect management practices, terminology and approaches 
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality 
  • Creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to identify opportunities 
  • Ability to work proactively and independently on your own initiative.
